Angelo L. Tomaso School Clubs for 2016-2017

After School Fall Clubs:

 

Bits Box Coding – (Mr. Larramendia) Grades 2 & 3 – (Oct 5 – Feb 8) Thursday 2:45 – 3:45 PM The Students will learn Bits Box coding and create and modify numerous programs. 

Games of Strategy – (Dr. Kline) Grades 2 & 3 – (Oct 17 – Feb 27) Monday 2:45 – 3:45 PM This club is open to any 2nd and 3rd grade student who finds the challenge of complex board games and table games stimulating. Students will examine strategies that increase the likelihood of winning.

Maker Club – (Mrs. Jackson) Grades 4 & 5 – (Oct 7 – Feb 9th) Thursday 2:45 – 3:45 PM This club will incorporate a variety of Maker Space activities. The students will use Little Bits, Makey Makey, Legos, and other materials to collaborate and create with their peers

 Homework Club – (Dr. Kline) Grades 4 & 5 – (Nov 15th – March 7th) Tues/Thurs 2:45 – 3:45 PM This club is open to any 4th or 5th grader who would enjoy doing their homework in school side-by-side with their classmates. Students can attend one or two days per week.

 Archery* Club – (Mr. Clark) Grades 4 & 5 – (12/19 – 5/1) Monday 2:45 – 3:45 PM  *Archery - Enrollment in the Archery Club will take place in early December 2016 after Mr. Clark has concluded his archery unit in physical education classes.

 

After School Spring Clubs:

 

Let’s Build! – (Dr. Kline) Grade 1 – (3/6 – 6/12) Monday 2:45 – 3:45 PM MonIn this club students will tackle challenging building projects using an assortment of blocks and other materials.

Yarn & Crocheting – (Mrs. DeRoner) – Grades 3 – 5 (2/16 – 6/15) – Thursday 2:45 – 3:45Students will learn 3 simple stitches in crocheting to make their own scarf or blanket. In order to personalize their project, students should bring from home a size G crochet hook and 2 skeins of yarn size 4 (med) or 3 (light) in a favorite color. Yarn should be simple (without fuzz or multiple threads, etc.)

Gardening Club – (Mrs. Balkonis) – Grades 3 – 5 (3/27 – 6/6) – Tues/Thurs 2:45 – 3:45 In this club students will learn about the plant life cycle and have hands-on experiences working and harvesting in ALT’s outdoor classroom. Students can attend one or two days per week.

Girls Running Club – (Ms. Young & Mrs. Wegener) Grades 4 & 5 (3/27 – 6/6) Mon/Wed 2:45 – 3:45 Girls will get active in this club and learn about making healthy lifestyle choices including values, manners, habits, friendships, and exercise. No prior running experience necessary.

Boys Running Club – (Mr. Larramendia) Grades 4 & 5 (3/28 – 6/7) Tues/Wed 2:45 – 3:45 This club will focus on leadership activities and lap running.
